Concentrated Solar Power Generation (CSP)

Solar-thermal power plants combine the benefits of grid stability through storage of power, high degree of efficiency, and considerable local added value options, thus making them a reliable technology for the energy transition.

Contrary to PV plants, solar-thermal power plants supply electricity on demand through the integration of a storage unit without having to fall back on fossil fuel power plants as a reserve. This is added value that will become more significant in the medium term, as photovoltaics and wind plants alone cannot guarantee a reliable supply according to the authors of the study.

Moreover, solar-thermal power plants offer a greater deal of local added value than PV, even in less economically developed regions.

Solar Power Generation - Towers

Solar thermia means converting the thermal energy of the sun in electric power.

In contrast to photovoltaics whose strength are self-dependent systems in the lower output ranges, solar thermal power plants today generate hundreds of megawatts of electric power.

Only solar thermia holds the potential to replace fossil fuels. The cost for generating electric power is 3 to 5 times lower with solar thermia than with photovoltaics

Application of the technology;

Air is heated by solar radiation under a low circular glass roof open at the periphery; this and the natural ground below it form a hot air collector. In the middle of the roof is a vertical tower with large air inlets at its base. The joint between the roof and the tower base is airtight. As hot air is lighter than cold air it rises up through the chimney. Suction from the tower then draws in more hot air from the collector, and cold air flows in from the outer perimeter.

The solar radiation is responsible for causing a constant up-draught in the tower. The energy created through this process is converted into mechanical energy by the rising air passing through the pressure-staged wind turbines at the base of the tower, and into electrical energy by conventional generators.

Solar Desalination

By using solar energy sea water can be taken and desalinated to produce 20,000 m³/day drinking water for 100,000 persons per day.

Water can be fed directly into existing water systems therefore negating diverting rivers and imposing water restrictions, the advantage of this technology is that brine water can also cost effective be treated.

Together with 2 reputable amine solvent manufacturers we have developed a robust CO2 recovery plant using the latest technologies and environmental friendly solvents to extract CO2 from most industrial gasses for the beverage and water softening / treatment plants.

    • Much of the water vapour contained in the flue gas is condensed and separated from the feed gas before entering the solvent system. The need to boil off excess water from the solvent loop is significantly reduced,
    • The reduction in water vapour flow reduces the overall mass flow to the blower,
    • The lower temperature of the flue gas results in higher density and therefore lower volumetric flow rate to the blower.
  • Non-toxic solvent limits full EIA studies and other operational complications
  • Demin water can be sold back to the feed plant
  • We are capable of designing the whole plant (process, mechanical, and C&I) in-house
  • Manufacturing of all vessels, low temperature to absolute vacuum is also possible
